News from my alma mater

It somehow seems surprising the the majority of the earth (by volume) is more inaccessible than the surface of Mars. I’m not a geologist, so I have no idea if this latest press release falls into the category of “Whoa, this changes everything” or “Yeah, this adds a bit more data to support what we already suspected”. The graphic is pretty, but the suggestion of a continuous region of liquid water is probably misleading. (For reference, Earth has a radius of ~6370 km, so the bottom of the transition zone is just over 10% of way down.)
